Technical Advisor I – Shelter & Settlements, RAPID

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development and execution of agency-wide strategies, standards, tools, and best practices related to Shelter and Settlements.

• Facilitate the integration of gender, protection mainstreaming, and disaster risk reduction across various sectors.

• Provide technical support to Country Program teams both remotely and on-site in areas such as strategic planning, standards, best practices, partnerships, tools, and monitoring and evaluation.

• Contribute to the technical design, preparation, submission, and approval processes for project concepts and proposals.

• Serve as a technical writer for proposal development teams as necessary.

• Offer guidance to project teams on aligning donor strategies, priorities, and technical requirements.

• Enhance the capacity of staff and partners through the implementation of learning strategies, training curricula, workshops, coaching, and mentoring.

• Gather and analyze program data, sharing insights and best practices learned.

• Play a role in advancing the Shelter and Settlements learning agenda.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, peer organizations, research institutions, and other entities.

• Engage in Shelter and Settlements forums to gather and disseminate best practices and promote the work of CRS.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or a relevant field related to Shelter & Settlements.

• At least five to eight years of pertinent work experience with increasing responsibilities.

• Minimum of two years of field-based experience in Shelter and Settlements.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Skilled in web conferencing tools, information and budget management systems, and knowledge-sharing platforms.

• Understanding of technical principles and concepts within Shelter & Settlements.

• General knowledge of related disciplines to support a cross-sectoral approach.

• Experience in project design and proposal development.

• Proven ability in writing proposal content.

• Familiarity with capacity-strengthening best practices.

• Experience in program monitoring, evaluation, and analysis.

• Background in networking and managing relationships with donors, peer organizations, and faith-based civil society partners.

• Comprehension of partnership principles.

• Strong skills in relationship management, strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and systems-thinking.

• Excellent technical writing capabilities.

• Skills in presentation, facilitation, training, mentoring, and coaching.

• Fluency in English is required.

• Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time.

• Legally authorized to work in the location of the position.

• Pre-employment medical clearance is required for positions necessitating residence or frequent travel outside of the home country.
