Tech Lead – QA – Performance Testing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Qatar, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and evaluate performance tests for web applications, BI reports/dashboards, and ETL/data models.

• Utilize JMeter for conducting load, stress, soak, and spike testing on web applications.

• Create custom Playwright/Python scripts for performance testing of BI and ETL.

• Translate SLAs into quantifiable performance thresholds.

• Validate the performance of ETL pipelines and data models, assessing job runtime, data volume management, transformation throughput, and impact on downstream reporting.

• Evaluate BI performance, focusing on report/dashboard load times, query response, concurrent user load, and refresh/batch windows.

• Incorporate performance tests into Azure DevOps pipelines, ensuring automated quality gates, reporting, and release readiness checks.

• Identify performance bottlenecks, communicate clear findings, and collaborate with development, QA, data, and operations teams.

• Engage in SAFe ceremonies such as PI Planning, Sprint Planning, System Demo, and Inspect & Adapt.

• Achieve iteration and PI objectives.

• Leverage GitHub Copilot and MCP where applicable to enhance scripting, analysis, and documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–8 years of experience in performance engineering or test automation with a significant emphasis on performance.

• Proficient in JMeter: creating test plans, handling correlation, parameterization, assertions, distributed execution, and result analysis.

• Experience with Playwright using JavaScript/TypeScript and Python for developing custom client-side, BI, and ETL performance scripts.

• Background in performance testing web applications, BI tools, and ETL/data models.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps: managing pipelines, CI/CD, test execution, and reporting.

• Knowledge of SAFe methodology and the ability to function within Agile Release Trains.

• Strong grasp of HTTP/APIs, data flows, and key performance metrics, including latency, throughput, error rate, concurrency, and job duration.

• Practical experience with GitHub Copilot; knowledge of MCP is advantageous.

• Excellent communication skills, adept at root-cause analysis, and quick learning capabilities.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• A deeper background in ETL/data pipelines is a plus.

• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or similar is beneficial.

• Familiarity with k6, Grafana, Datadog, Application Insights, or other observability tools is a plus.

• Experience in cloud environments, preferably Azure, is advantageous.
