This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Lead the technical direction for your team, guiding architectural choices and ensuring they align with the platform's strategy.
• Drive successful delivery outcomes, making sure your team consistently produces high-quality work while managing technical risks.
• Develop and uphold engineering standards, including code quality, testing methodologies, and documentation practices.
• Remove obstacles for team members by providing hands-on support, conducting code reviews, and offering technical mentorship.
• Work in partnership with Product and Design to transform requirements into clearly defined technical tasks.
• Identify and resolve technical debt, balancing immediate delivery needs with the long-term health of the system.
• Guide and mentor engineers within your team, promoting technical development and sound engineering decision-making.
• Contribute to the overarching engineering strategy and architectural decisions across the organization.
• (Optional) Oversee and nurture engineers, including responsibilities for hiring, performance evaluations, career progression, and daily support.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, showcasing technical expertise at the Staff level or equivalent.
• Proficient across the full stack, capable of designing back-end systems and delivering polished, responsive front-end applications.
• Strong background in system design and architecture, with the ability to make informed trade-offs between immediate delivery and long-term solutions.
• Proven experience in leading teams or squads to achieve successful delivery outcomes.
• Comfortable utilizing advanced coding tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, and others) to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern deployment methodologies.
• Ability to switch between practical contributions and strategic technical leadership seamlessly.
• Excellent collaboration skills, with a history of working closely with Product teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
