Tech Architect – Storage Presales

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to design scalable file and S3 object storage solutions tailored for AI, analytics, and enterprise workloads.

• Assess application data flows, data lifecycle needs, workloads, growth trends, and performance attributes.

• Suggest and document suitable storage architectures.

• Determine storage requirements for capacity, throughput, latency, network bandwidth, growth, availability, performance, resiliency, and scalability.

• Facilitate technical workshops, evaluations, benchmarks, and practical proofs of concept.

• Plan, configure, implement, and resolve issues related to technical POCs.

• Develop storage architectures for AI inference, RAG, analytics, and data lake workloads.

• Assist customers in comprehending the processes of data ingestion, storage, processing, protection, movement, governance, and consumption.

• Work in partnership with product management and engineering to convert customer needs into product and roadmap priorities.

• Offer competitive analysis, technical positioning, and solution guidance to sales and technical teams.

• Deliver architectural presentations and technical recommendations to both executive and technical audiences.

• Aid in strategic presales activities, RFIs/RFPs, solution sizing, and technical justification.

• Travel as required to support clients, partners, and strategic initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, or supporting enterprise storage and data architectures.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proven customer-facing architecture, consulting, or presales experience.

• Strong foundational knowledge of S3 object storage, including buckets, objects, APIs, authentication, data protection, and application integration patterns.

• Working knowledge of NFS and SMB protocols.

• Experience in sizing storage solutions based on capacity, performance, growth, network, and application requirements.

• Capability to plan, configure, implement, and troubleshoot technical POCs.

• Familiarity with AI inference, RAG, vector databases, data lakes/Lakehouses, and large-scale analytics workloads.

• Understanding of data flow, data lifecycle, data management, protection, governance, and application consumption.

• Strong knowledge of throughput, latency, IOPS, metadata performance, concurrency, and network bandwidth.

• Exceptional communication, presentation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Willingness and capacity to travel for customer engagements.

• Experience with enterprise file or object storage platforms such as Dell PowerScale/ObjectScale, Pure Storage FlashBlade, NetApp ONTAP/StorageGRID, VAST Data, Scality, or other enterprise file or S3-compatible object storage platforms is preferred.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP storage services and integration patterns.

• Understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud data architectures.

• Knowledge of modern AI and analytics platforms and their storage requirements.

• Awareness of the competitive landscape in enterprise file and object storage.

• Experience in technical presales, consulting, solution architecture, or customer advisory roles.
