Tech Architect – Storage Presales

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to design scalable file and S3 object storage solutions.

• Comprehend application data flows, data lifecycle needs, and performance attributes.

• Determine storage solutions based on capacity, throughput, latency, network bandwidth, growth, availability, and workload demands.

• Facilitate technical workshops, assessments, benchmarks, and hands-on proofs of concept.

• Utilize knowledge of AI inference, RAG, data lakes, and analytics pipelines to inform storage architecture choices.

• Work alongside product management and engineering teams on customer requirements and roadmap priorities.

• Offer competitive insights, technical positioning, and solution recommendations.

• Design and document enterprise-scale file and object storage solutions.

• Evaluate customer workloads, growth trends, and data management needs.

• Lead proofs of concept that validate performance, integration, scalability, and operational requirements.

• Assist clients in understanding data ingestion, storage, processing, protection, movement, governance, and consumption.

• Deliver architecture presentations and recommendations to both executive and technical stakeholders.

• Support strategic presales efforts, RFIs/RFPs, solution sizing, and technical justification.

• Travel as necessary to assist customers, partners, and strategic initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, or supporting enterprise storage and data architectures.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong customer-facing architecture, consulting, or presales experience.

• Solid foundational understanding of S3 object storage, including buckets, objects, APIs, authentication, data protection, and application integration patterns.

• Familiarity with NFS and SMB protocols.

• Experience in sizing storage solutions based on capacity, performance, growth, network, and application needs.

• Capability to plan, configure, execute, and troubleshoot technical proofs of concept.

• Knowledge of AI inference, RAG, vector databases, data lakes/Lakehouse concepts, and large-scale analytics workloads.

• Understanding of data flow, lifecycle, management, protection, governance, and application consumption.

• Insight into throughput, latency, IOPS, metadata performance, concurrency, and network bandwidth.

• Exceptional communication, presentation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Willingness and readiness to travel for customer engagements.

• Preferred experience with enterprise file or object storage platforms, such as Dell PowerScale/ObjectScale, Pure Storage FlashBlade, NetApp ONTAP/StorageGRID, VAST Data, Scality, or other enterprise file or S3-compatible object storage solutions.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP storage services and integration patterns.

• Understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud data architectures.

• Knowledge of modern AI and analytics platforms and their storage requirements.

• Awareness of the competitive landscape in enterprise file and object storage.

• Experience in technical presales, consulting, solution architecture, or customer advisory roles.
