Tech Architect – Storage Presales

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to design scalable file and S3 object storage solutions.

• Evaluate application data flows, data lifecycle needs, workloads, growth trends, and performance attributes.

• Determine the appropriate sizing of storage solutions based on capacity, throughput, latency, network bandwidth, growth, availability, performance, resiliency, and scalability.

• Facilitate technical workshops, assessments, benchmarks, and practical proofs of concept.

• Strategize, set up, execute, and resolve issues related to technical POCs.

• Create storage architectures for AI inference, RAG, analytics, data lakes, and enterprise workloads.

• Assist clients in understanding the processes of data ingestion, storage, processing, protection, movement, governance, and consumption.

• Design and document enterprise-scale file and object storage solutions.

• Work alongside product management and engineering to convert customer needs into product and roadmap priorities.

• Offer competitive analysis, technical positioning, and solution guidance to sales and technical teams.

• Deliver architectural and technical recommendations to both executive and technical audiences.

• Aid in strategic presales initiatives, RFIs/RFPs, solution sizing, and technical justification.

• Travel as necessary to assist customers, partners, and strategic opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, or supporting enterprise storage and data architectures.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Strong background in customer-facing architecture, consulting, or presales environments.

• Solid foundational knowledge of S3 object storage, encompassing buckets, objects, APIs, authentication, data protection, and application integration patterns.

• Familiarity with NFS and SMB protocols.

• Experience in sizing storage solutions tailored to capacity, performance, growth, network, and application needs.

• Capability to plan, configure, execute, and troubleshoot technical POCs.

• Understanding of AI inference, RAG, vector databases, data lakes/Lakehouse architectures, and large-scale analytics workloads.

• Comprehension of data flow, lifecycle, management, protection, governance, and application consumption.

• Knowledge of throughput, latency, IOPS, metadata performance, concurrency, and network bandwidth.

• Outstanding communication, presentation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Willingness and capability to travel for customer engagements.

• Experience with enterprise file or object storage platforms is preferred.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP storage services is a significant advantage.

• Understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud data architectures.

• Knowledge of modern AI and analytics platforms and their storage requirements.

• Awareness of the competitive landscape in enterprise file and object storage.

• Experience in technical presales, consulting, solution architecture, or customer advisory positions.
