This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver American Sign Language interpreting services on the VRS platform.
• Align management goals with the objectives of interpreting operations.
• Collaborate with the Regional Manager to strategize the growth of interpreting business lines (VRS, Community, and VRI).
• Oversee the everyday operations of interpreting services, which include call centers, at-home interpreting, community interpreting, CART, video interpreting, and community relations.
• Supervise a team of around 35 interpreting professionals.
• Manage performance evaluations for interpreters.
• Authorize scheduling for all interpreters across all operational domains.
• Work in conjunction with HR and Recruiting to identify and hire interpreters.
• Approve timekeeping and attendance, including leave requests, for all interpreters as necessary.
• Cultivate relationships with local community leaders.
• Collaborate closely with schedulers and business development team members to ensure client service and satisfaction.
• Provide guidance to interpreters regarding their well-being and professional care.
• Generate precise reports on team performance, operational efficiencies, and quality metrics.
• Maintain direct communication with the Regional Manager concerning all operational matters.
• Ensure the Interpreting Operations Team fulfills its mission of delighting customers and serving teams by fostering a work culture that is inclusive, welcoming, and open.
• Partner with members of the department’s support management team to achieve department-wide goals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support partners, colleagues, and interpreters throughout the organization.
• Must be fluent in American Sign Language and spoken English, possessing accurate interpreting skills and comprehensive knowledge of the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
• Must successfully complete the internal interpreting assessment.
• Required to work 20 hours weekly on the VRS platform between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., local time, Monday through Friday. (Hours will be pre-scheduled based on staffing needs and demand.)
• Associate's degree in Business Management or a related field is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred.
• A minimum of three years of supervisory experience, ideally in an interpreting-related setting, with a focus on coaching and mentoring others.
• In-depth understanding of deaf culture and the interpreting profession.
• Familiar with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Regulations and Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) standards.
• Proficient in specialized software related to departmental operations, including IM Service, databases, Internet, spreadsheets, presentation, and word processing applications.
• Strong time management skills to effectively handle multiple competing priorities and demands, with the ability to perform well under pressure.
• Knowledge and skills in budgeting and finance for monitoring operational profitability.
• Ability to communicate effectively, present information, and respond to inquiries from employees, clients, customers, managers, and the public.
• Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
• Familiarity with departmental operations and organizational policies, processes, and procedures.
• Human resources management capabilities for hiring and training employees, assessing work performance, addressing employee relations issues, and resolving conflicts.
• Management skills to set priorities and efficiently supervise and develop assigned staff to achieve optimal skill and performance levels.
