Team Lead, Kotlin Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead the Kotlin Infrastructure team at JetBrains.

• Collaborate with the Technical Lead to define and shape the long-term development of Kotlin infrastructure.

• Take ownership of planning and prioritizing infrastructure initiatives, balancing short-term requirements with long-term goals.

• Initiate projects that enhance development productivity and improve the developer experience within the Kotlin engineering ecosystem.

• Provide support to engineers through coaching, constructive feedback, and recruitment efforts.

• Engage in cross-team collaborations to advance Kotlin infrastructure and engineering platforms.

• Oversee developer experience regarding local development, code review, CI, and merge processes.

• Direct Kotlin build architecture and optimize build performance.

• Manage CI/CD systems, release infrastructure, artifact publication, and engineering workflows.

• Oversee internal tools, engineering automation, and the management of development infrastructure.

• Ensure the security of engineering infrastructure, including managing dependencies, reproducible builds, secrets, access management, build agents, and development environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience leading engineering teams or large-scale technical initiatives.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to align various stakeholders.

• Familiarity with developer infrastructure, build systems, CI/CD, or internal engineering platforms.

• Strong understanding of software build systems and engineering workflows at scale.

• Ability to assess technical proposals, facilitate architectural discussions, and guide teams toward practical decisions.

• A commitment to enhancing developer productivity through tooling, automation, and platform development.

• Experience with TeamCity is a plus.

• Familiarity with Gradle and Kotlin build scripts is advantageous.

• Experience with Kotlin or the JVM ecosystem would be beneficial.

• Experience with large monorepositories is a plus.

• Familiarity with internal developer platforms or developer experience tooling would be beneficial.
