This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Take full ownership of major features from concept to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for key functionalities.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by investigating and resolving technical obstacles.
• Identify and promote reusable solutions across the team.
• Keep shared components well-tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Lead enhancements to team processes.
• Minimize manual efforts required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by refining underlying systems.
• Enhance automated checks to shift verification to earlier stages.
• Facilitate planning sessions focused on decision-making tasks.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off duties.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering, and communicate team constraints proactively.
• Address critical problems, manage feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-oriented tasks and development opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leading a team or owning a significant feature while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Proven experience in deploying and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• Awareness of the significance of testing and strategies for writing effective tests, including limitations.
• An example of a practice you implemented in a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort it took to achieve this.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role, such as encouraging colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the resulting challenges.
• Insight into which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A history of developing tools utilized by the team, rather than solely those that improved your own efficiency.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just how you personally engage with them.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and a passion for elevating Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the application and codebase beyond what is defined in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews and an assessment involving a real codebase.
