This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
β’ Take full ownership of significant features from inception to deployment, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
β’ Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
β’ Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
β’ Remove obstacles for engineers and tackle technical challenges.
β’ Recognize reusable solutions and standardize practices across the team.
β’ Uphold tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
β’ Drive modifications to team processes and methodologies.
β’ Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
β’ Address persistent issues by altering foundational systems.
β’ Broaden automated verification and shift testing to earlier stages in the development cycle.
β’ Facilitate planning and focus the team's efforts on unresolved decisions.
β’ Establish review criteria and ownership of approvals.
β’ Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
β’ Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
β’ Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful projects and learning opportunities.
β’ Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or ownership of a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
β’ Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
β’ Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
β’ Comprehension of the significance of tests and approaches to writing them, including limitations.
β’ A successful initiative you introduced to a team that continued after your involvement, along with an honest reflection on the effort it took to achieve this.
β’ Comfort in addressing the less popular aspects of the job: encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
β’ An informed perspective on which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
β’ A proven history of creating solutions that the team actively utilizes, not just those that enhance your own efficiency.
β’ The ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not solely your individual approach.
β’ Intuition for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the specified requirements.
β’ Self-motivated to enhance the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
β’ Strong communication skills.
β’ Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
