This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of significant features from conception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members in overcoming technical challenges.
• Standardize reusable solutions within the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention during proper releases.
• Address recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Shift verification earlier in the process and broaden automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review requirements and approval processes.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and supply nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with substantial work and learning opportunities.
• Write, review, and take a hands-on approach to coding and feature ownership.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Understanding the significance of testing and how to approach writing tests, including limitations of coverage.
• A successful initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest evaluation of the effort it required.
• Comfort with encouraging colleagues to alter their work methods and managing any resulting friction.
• An opinion on which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of building tools that are actively utilized by your team.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and a motivation to advance Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• Self-driven to enhance the app and codebase beyond what is specified.
• Exceptional communication skills.

• Several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
• Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is considered a bonus.
