This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Resolve technical obstacles to assist team members in moving forward.
• Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Lead improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual interventions during release procedures.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Increase automated verification and integrate testing earlier in the development lifecycle.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review criteria and approval workflows.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, effectively communicating team limitations.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Write, review, and directly handle code for features.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining applications with background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of testing and strategies for writing effective tests, including limitations.
• An example of a process or practice you introduced that remained after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to implement it.
• Comfort with promoting changes in work practices, even when it creates initial friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A history of creating tools or features that have been widely utilized by the team, rather than solely those that increased personal efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your individual contributions.
• An intuitive sense for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• A proactive approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond what is specified.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
