This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by diagnosing and resolving obstacles.
• Standardize solutions for collective team utilization.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Spearhead modifications to team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by altering foundational systems.
• Broaden automated verification processes and shift testing to earlier stages.
• Organize planning and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical situations, take charge of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-focused tasks and development opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership experience or ownership of a major project while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other ongoing background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of testing and strategies for writing tests, including limitations.
• A successful initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to achieve this.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in work practices and managing the associated friction.
• Insight into which changes warrant extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• Proven history of developing solutions that are utilized by your team, not just enhancements that improve your own efficiency.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents beyond your personal contributions.
• A strong intuition for product design, user empathy, and motivation to elevate Android UI/UX beyond initial specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond what is explicitly stated in the specification.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews accompanied by an evaluation on a real codebase.
