This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
⢠Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
⢠Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
⢠Evaluate pull requests and provide constructive feedback on development.
⢠Assist team members by resolving technical challenges.
⢠Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.
⢠Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
⢠Identify and execute improvements in team processes.
⢠Minimize the manual intervention required for successful releases.
⢠Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
⢠Shift verification processes left by increasing automated checks before quality assurance.
⢠Conduct planning focused on unresolved decisions.
⢠Assess necessary review levels and required approvals.
⢠Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering, communicating team constraints early on.
⢠Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
⢠Mentor early-career engineers with learning-focused tasks and development time.
⢠Write and review code while leading individual features as a hands-on team leader.
⢠Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
⢠Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
⢠Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background processes.
⢠Knowledge of the significance of testing and the approach to writing them, including limitations.
⢠Proven experience in introducing a team practice that remained after implementation.
⢠Comfort in advocating for changes in work practices and managing any resulting friction.
⢠Ability to discern which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system behavior.
⢠History of building systems utilized by the broader team.
⢠Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
⢠Intuition in product design, user empathy, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
⢠Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond the given specifications.
⢠Outstanding communication skills.
⢠Submission of a portfolio and LinkedIn links is required with the application.
⢠Fully distributed work environment.
