This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
β’ Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the decision-making process and release.
β’ Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
β’ Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
β’ Assist engineers by identifying and resolving obstacles.
β’ Discover reusable solutions and integrate shared components.
β’ Ensure shared components are tested, clear, and well-maintained.
β’ Lead modifications to team processes.
β’ Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
β’ Tackle recurring issues by altering the foundational setup.
β’ Advance verification processes by broadening automated checks.
β’ Conduct planning sessions and direct team focus on tasks that require decision-making.
β’ Establish review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
β’ Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering to highlight team constraints early on.
β’ Manage critical issues, take responsibility for feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
β’ Mentor early-career engineers with development opportunities focused on learning.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership experience or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
β’ Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
β’ Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including areas that cannot be tested.
β’ An example of a contribution you made to a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to achieve that.
β’ Comfort in encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
β’ Insight into which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
β’ A history of developing solutions that your team actively utilized, rather than solely those that enhanced your personal efficiency.
β’ Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your individual approach.
β’ A strong sense of product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.

β’ Exceptional communication skills.
