This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Take ownership of significant features from conception to release in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving obstacles and investigating team challenges.
• Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.
• Sustain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared code.
• Propel improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Broaden automated verification and advance testing earlier in the development cycle.
• Conduct planning sessions targeting unresolved decisions.
• Establish review requirements and approval stages.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful projects and dedicated learning time.
• Participate in technical interviews and assess real codebases.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and approaches to writing them, including limitations on coverage.
• Experience in implementing processes or practices that endure post-implementation.
• Ability to encourage changes in work habits and manage the resulting friction.
• Skill in distinguishing between changes that require extensive review and those that do not.
• Proven record of developing solutions utilized by the broader team.
• Capability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and Android UI/UX skills.
• Initiative to enhance the app and codebase.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Inclusion of portfolio links and LinkedIn profile with the application.
• Experience with open source Android projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS is an added advantage.
