This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.
• Take full ownership of significant Android features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the Design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer developmental insights.
• Assist engineers by removing obstacles and addressing team challenges.
• Standardize shared solutions and merge redundant implementations.
• Ensure shared code remains tested, comprehensible, and maintainable.
• Spearhead modifications to team processes.
• Minimize manual interventions necessary for accurate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by enhancing foundational systems.
• Broaden automated verification and shift testing to earlier stages of development.
• Facilitate planning and direct team focus on unresolved matters.
• Establish review criteria and designate approval ownership.
• Engage in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Address critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds to QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing learning opportunities.
• Conduct technical interviews and assess real-codebase capabilities as part of the hiring process.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and managing background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• Experience in implementing a change or practice that gained acceptance within a team.
• Comfort in requesting colleagues to adapt their workflows and addressing any resulting friction.
• Capability to discern which changes require extensive review and which do not.
• A history of creating solutions that are utilized by the rest of the team.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, empathy for users, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX.
• Self-motivation to advance the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Experience with open-source Android projects (bonus).
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS (bonus).
