This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.
• Take complete ownership of significant Android features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the Design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles by investigating technical challenges.
• Integrate successful implementations into standardized practices for the team.
• Ensure the maintenance of tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Identify and execute enhancements to team procedures.
• Minimize the manual intervention necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the underlying systems.
• Advance verification processes and broaden automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish suitable review levels and necessary sign-offs.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams while conveying team limitations.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and supply nightly builds to QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-oriented tasks and development opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including experience leading a team or managing a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and sustaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Strong understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations that cannot be covered by tests.
• An example of a practice you implemented within a team that persisted after you ceased advocating for it, along with a candid evaluation of the effort required to achieve that.
• Some comfort in encouraging colleagues to modify their work methods and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate thorough reviews and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of developing solutions that were genuinely utilized by the rest of the team.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, empathy for users, and a determination to advance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
