This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.
β’ Take ownership of significant Android features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
β’ Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
β’ Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
β’ Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and investigate ongoing technical challenges.
β’ Identify reusable solutions for the team and streamline duplicate implementations.
β’ Ensure shared components are tested, well-organized, maintained, and consolidated.
β’ Lead improvements to team processes as necessary.
β’ Minimize manual intervention needed for successful releases.
β’ Enhance underlying systems to avoid recurring issues.
β’ Promote early verification by expanding automated checks.
β’ Facilitate planning and direct the team's efforts on unresolved decisions.
β’ Establish review criteria and sign-off protocols.
β’ Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
β’ Address critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds to QA.
β’ Mentor early-career engineers through learning-focused tasks and development opportunities.
β’ Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
β’ Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
β’ Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
β’ Understanding of the significance of testing and approaches to writing them, including limitations.
β’ An example of a contribution to a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with an honest account of the effort required to implement it.
β’ Comfort with encouraging others to modify their work habits and managing the resulting friction.
β’ Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
β’ A proven history of developing tools and features that are actively utilized by the team.
β’ Capability to articulate how the team interacts with AI agents.
β’ Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
β’ Initiative to enhance the app and codebase beyond what is specified.
β’ Exceptional communication skills.
β’ Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
