This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to deployment in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for critical features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members by resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize successful implementations for the team's benefit.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by enhancing underlying systems.
• Broaden automated verification processes prior to nightly QA builds.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review requirements and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Write and review code while taking direct responsibility for features.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major component while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Understanding the significance of tests and the methodology for writing them, including limitations.
• Experience in implementing changes that are sustainable within a team environment.
• Comfortable prompting changes in work practices and managing the associated challenges.
• Ability to discern which changes require thorough review and which do not.
• A proven history of creating tools or systems utilized by the wider team.
• Capable of articulating how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX.
• Self-motivated to elevate the app and codebase beyond the initial specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Successful completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
