This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the entire process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by investigating and resolving stalled tasks.
• Identify and standardize reusable implementations within the team.
• Oversee shared code management, including testing, clarity, and consolidation.
• Drive changes in team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Expand automated verification and shift testing efforts earlier in the development cycle.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on work that requires decision-making.
• Establish appropriate review levels and necessary approvals.
• Engage in discussions related to Product, Design, and Engineering while highlighting team constraints early.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-oriented tasks and development opportunities.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including a leadership role or ownership of a significant feature while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Insight into the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including coverage limitations.
• An example of a successful initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, including an honest assessment of the costs incurred to implement it.
• Ability to navigate the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
• An informed perspective on which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of developing tools that your team actively utilized, rather than solely those that expedited your own work.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
• An instinct for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated drive to elevate the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
