This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.
• Take ownership of major features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist engineers in overcoming technical obstacles.
• Recognize successful implementations that should be adopted as team-wide standards and execute those changes.
• Maintain shared components through thorough testing, documentation, and consolidation efforts.
• Drive advancements in team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Shift verification processes earlier in the timeline by broadening automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions centered around unresolved decisions.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, communicating team constraints proactively.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Provide learning opportunities for early-career engineers.
• Write and review code while taking a hands-on approach to feature ownership.
• Complete multiple technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
• Minimum of 5 years in software engineering, including experience leading a team or managing a significant project while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of testing and methodologies for writing tests, including aspects that cannot be covered by them.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement ceased, along with a candid reflection on the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfort in encouraging others to alter their work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• Proven history of creating solutions that your team actively utilizes.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Product design intuition, user empathy, and a motivation to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications provided.
• Self-motivation to advance the app and codebase beyond what is defined in the specifications.
• Strong communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews and an assessment on a real codebase.
• Submission of portfolio and LinkedIn links with the application.
• Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is considered a plus.
