This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.
• Take full ownership of significant features alongside the design team, from initial decisions to final release.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Engage in coding, code review, and hands-on ownership of features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and investigate any stalled tasks.
• Recognize reusable solutions within the team and consolidate duplicated implementations.
• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Enhance team processes and minimize manual intervention during releases.
• Modify underlying systems to avert recurring issues.
• Implement early verification through automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Define review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, addressing team constraints early on.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds to QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with significant projects and learning opportunities.
• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• Introduced a lasting contribution to a team that remained effective after the candidate's involvement ceased, with a candid assessment of its impact.
• Comfortable requesting changes in work habits and managing any ensuing friction.
• Ability to assess which changes require extensive review based on system behavior.
• Proven history of building tools that the team actively utilized.
• Capability to articulate the team's interaction with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and ambition to enhance Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• Self-motivation to improve the app and codebase beyond outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
