This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance the reliability metrics for critical features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and investigate any stalled projects.
• Identify reusable solutions within the team and promote their implementation.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Optimize team processes and determine when changes to workflow are necessary.
• Minimize the manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Resolve recurring issues by modifying the underlying setup.
• Increase automated verification to ensure that nightly builds sent to QA are dependable.
• Oversee planning and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish suitable review levels and sign-off requirements.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Aid in the development and growth of early-career engineers.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including experience leading a team or managing a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• A solid understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be covered by tests.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that became established after your involvement ended, along with an honest evaluation of the effort required to implement it.
• Some comfort with the less popular aspects of the job: persuading colleagues to alter their working methods, and managing the resulting friction.
• A perspective on which changes require extensive review and which do not, supported by an understanding of the system's functionality.
• A history of developing solutions that your team actively uses, rather than solely those that enhance your own speed.
• The capacity to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just how you personally interact with them.
• An intuition for product design, empathy for users, and the motivation to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-driven approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond what is specified.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews plus an assessment on a real codebase.
