This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback to peers.
• Assist team members in overcoming technical challenges.
• Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.
• Oversee shared components through testing, documentation, and consolidation efforts.
• Guide modifications to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual interventions to ensure accurate releases.
• Address recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Advance verification processes by incorporating more automated checks before QA.
• Lead planning efforts and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with significant tasks and learning opportunities.
• Actively write and review code while leading the Android core product team.
• A minimum of 5 years in software engineering, including experience in leading a team or managing a major feature while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other types of long-running background tasks.
• Knowledge of the significance of tests and how to write them effectively, including aspects that cannot be covered by testing.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your influence, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to achieve that.
• Comfort with the more challenging aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to alter their work habits, and managing the resulting friction.
• An understanding of which changes necessitate thorough reviews and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that are utilized by the team, rather than solely focusing on personal efficiency.
• The capability to explain how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your individual approach.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivation to improve the application and codebase beyond the outlined requirements.
• Strong communication skills.
• Successful completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment of a real codebase.
