This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the Design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback on development.
• Assist engineers by resolving technical obstacles.
• Identify and unify shared implementations for team-wide utilization.
• Ensure shared code is thoroughly tested, clear, well-maintained, and consolidated.
• Spearhead improvements to team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Advance verification efforts by expanding automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on tasks requiring decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Provide support to early-career engineers through learning opportunities.
• Write and review code while taking hands-on responsibility for features.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, with experience leading a team or managing a significant project while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• A strong understanding of the significance of tests and approaches to writing them, including areas that tests may not cover.
• An example of something you implemented within a team that remained effective after your involvement ceased, along with a candid account of the efforts involved.
• Comfort in encouraging colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the resulting challenges.
• Insight into which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, supported by an understanding of the system's functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that your team actively utilized.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• Self-motivated to enhance the application and codebase beyond initial specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Submission of a portfolio and LinkedIn profile with the application.
• Experience with open-source Android projects, as well as iOS, Web, or NodeJS experience, is considered a plus.
