This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by troubleshooting and resolving technical obstacles.
• Standardize effective solutions for team-wide application.
• Ensure shared components are tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention in successful releases.
• Address persistent issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Shift verification processes earlier in the workflow and broaden automated testing.
• Organize planning sessions and direct the team's focus on pending tasks.
• Establish review prerequisites and determine approval responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, communicating team constraints proactively.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds to QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-oriented projects and dedicated development time.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or management of a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other extended background tasks.
• Knowledge of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be tested.
• An example of something you implemented in a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in others' workflows and managing resultant friction.
• An understanding of which changes require thorough review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of developing tools that are utilized by your team, rather than solely those that enhance your efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your personal contributions.
• An instinct for product design, user empathy, and the ambition to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A proactive approach to improving the application and codebase beyond what is outlined in specifications.
• Strong communication skills.
• Successful completion of multiple technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
