This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Slovakia.
β’ Take ownership of significant Android features from conception to release while collaborating closely with Design.
β’ Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
β’ Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
β’ Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and resolving technical challenges.
β’ Identify reusable solutions and standardize them throughout the team.
β’ Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
β’ Lead improvements to team processes and workflows.
β’ Minimize the manual interventions needed for successful releases.
β’ Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
β’ Encourage early verification through increased automated testing.
β’ Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
β’ Establish review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
β’ Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
β’ Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
β’ Mentor early-career engineers by providing meaningful projects and learning opportunities.
β’ Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or ownership of a significant project while remaining hands-on.
β’ Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
β’ Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
β’ Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including areas that cannot be covered by tests.
β’ An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to implement it.
β’ Some familiarity with encouraging changes in work habits and managing the associated friction.
β’ A perspective on which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
β’ A history of developing solutions that are actively utilized by your team.
β’ Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
β’ Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
β’ A proactive attitude towards improving both the app and codebase beyond initial specifications.
β’ Exceptional communication abilities.
β’ Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment of a real codebase.
