This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Slovakia.
• Take ownership of major features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Resolve technical challenges to facilitate engineers' work.
• Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention required for accurate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by enhancing foundational systems.
• Move verification earlier in the process and broaden automated checks.
• Oversee planning and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off procedures.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Assist early-career engineers with work that promotes learning and provides development time.
• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leading a team or owning a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• Understanding the significance of tests and the strategies for writing them, including limitations of test coverage.
• A successful concept that you implemented within a team that remained after you ceased promoting it, along with a candid account of the effort required to achieve it.
• Some comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to alter their work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• An opinion on which changes warrant thorough review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of developing tools that the rest of your team utilized, rather than solely those that enhanced your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your personal interactions.
• An intuitive sense of product design, user empathy, and the motivation to advance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-driven approach to enhance the application and codebase beyond what is prescribed in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
