Team Lead – Android Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of major features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.

• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.

• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback.

• Assist engineers by investigating and resolving obstacles.

• Identify reusable solutions within the team and consolidate redundant implementations.

• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and easily reusable.

• Propel changes to team processes as necessary.

• Minimize the need for manual intervention for successful releases.

• Address recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.

• Shift verification to earlier stages by expanding automated checks.

• Conduct planning sessions focused on tasks that require decision-making.

• Establish appropriate review levels and sign-off criteria.

• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, communicating team limitations early on.

• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.

• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-oriented tasks and development time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leading a team or managing a significant project while remaining hands-on.

• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.

• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.

• Knowledge of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations on coverage.

• A successful initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.

• Comfort in prompting colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the resulting friction.

• An informed perspective on which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.

• A proven history of developing solutions that your team actively utilizes.

• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.

• A strong sense of product design, user empathy, and a motivation to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.

• A proactive approach to improving the app and codebase beyond what is detailed in the specifications.
