Team Lead, Android Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.

• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.

• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.

• Assist team members by addressing technical obstacles.

• Standardize reusable solutions within the team.

• Ensure shared code is tested, clear, and well-organized.

• Drive improvements to team processes.

• Minimize manual interventions needed for successful releases.

• Tackle recurring issues by refining underlying systems.

• Increase automated verification and shift testing earlier in the process.

• Facilitate planning and guide the team's focus on tasks that require decision-making.

• Establish review criteria and define ownership for approvals.

• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.

• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for Quality Assurance.

• Mentor early-career engineers by providing them with meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.

• Complete multiple technical interviews and a real-codebase evaluation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.

• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.

• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.

• Understanding of the significance of testing and strategies for writing effective tests, including limitations.

• An example of a successful initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid account of the effort involved.

• Comfortable with encouraging changes in team workflows and managing the resulting challenges.

• Ability to assess which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.

• Proven track record of developing solutions that are actively used by your team.

• Capability to explain how your team collaborates with AI agents.

• Strong intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a passion for enhancing Android UI/UX beyond specifications.

• Self-motivation to advance the app and codebase beyond the stated requirements.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Completion of several technical interviews and an assessment on a real codebase.
