This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Take ownership of major features from inception to release in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by troubleshooting ongoing issues.
• Standardize effective solutions for use across the team.
• Maintain tested, clear, and integrated shared components.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Broaden automated verification and transition testing to earlier stages.
• Facilitate planning and concentrate team efforts on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review levels and necessary approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Assist early-career engineers with learning opportunities.
• Write and review code, actively owning features.
• Participate in technical interviews and assess real codebases.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while maintaining hands-on involvement.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and sustaining background audio or other extended background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• An example of a contribution to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid account of the effort it took to achieve that.
• Comfort in encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• Proven history of creating solutions that are genuinely utilized by your team.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to enhance Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• Initiative to advance the app and codebase beyond the given specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Inclusion of portfolio and LinkedIn links with the application.
• Experience with open source Android projects, or familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS is a plus.
