This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Take ownership of major features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members in overcoming technical challenges and obstacles.
• Standardize successful implementations for team-wide use.
• Preserve tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Propel enhancements to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Shift verification early in the process and broaden automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions centered around work that necessitates decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and approval workflows.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing impactful work and dedicated learning opportunities.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including experience leading a team or owning a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Recognize the significance of tests and approaches to writing them, including their limitations.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfortable with requesting changes in work practices and managing the resulting friction.
• An understanding of which changes warrant thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of developing solutions that your team actively utilizes.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An instinct for product design, user empathy, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined requirements.
