This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.
• Take full ownership of major features from conception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback to team members.
• Remove obstacles for engineers and investigate any technical challenges.
• Identify and standardize reusable solutions for the team.
• Ensure shared code is thoroughly tested, clear, well-maintained, and consolidated.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes and working methodologies.
• Minimize manual interventions necessary for successful releases.
• Address recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Shift verification to earlier stages and expand automated testing.
• Facilitate planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish appropriate review levels and sign-off processes.
• Engage in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering, highlighting team constraints early.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful projects and dedicated learning time.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leading a team or owning a significant feature while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• An understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• Experience implementing a lasting change within a team, along with an honest account of the challenges faced.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: persuading colleagues to alter their work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes warrant extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A history of developing solutions that the team actively utilizes, beyond just personal efficiency gains.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents, not just personal workflows.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and the ambition to enhance Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the application and codebase beyond what is specified.
• Strong communication skills.
