This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, enhance, and ensure the reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members by removing obstacles and resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize reusable solutions within the team.
• Maintain clear, tested, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention during correct releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Increase automated verification and integrate testing earlier in the development cycle.
• Facilitate planning sessions and focus the team's attention on unresolved issues.
• Establish review requirements and designate approval responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Address critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-focused tasks and development opportunities.
• Write, review, and maintain code, while leading the team in individual feature ownership.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or ownership of a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Awareness of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including what cannot be covered by tests.
• An example of a concept you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement ceased, along with a candid assessment of the effort it took to implement.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: persuading individuals to modify their work habits and adapting to the resulting friction.
• A perspective on which changes require extensive review and which do not, supported by the functionality of the system.
• A proven history of building solutions that the entire team utilized, rather than just those that enhanced your own speed.
• The capability to articulate how your team interacts with AI agents, in addition to your personal methods.
• An intuitive sense of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to advance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the defined specifications.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews alongside an assessment on a real codebase.
