This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Take ownership of significant features from initiation to deployment, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members by investigating and resolving any obstacles they encounter.
• Identify solutions that benefit the entire team and promote their implementation.
• Maintain shared components to ensure they are tested, organized, and consolidated.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure proper releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by adjusting the foundational setup.
• Enhance verification processes by increasing automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish suitable review levels and sign-off criteria.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering, and proactively highlight team constraints.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Ensure early-career engineers are assigned learning-oriented tasks and have adequate time to develop their skills.
• Write code, review code, and take a hands-on approach to feature ownership.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• A thorough understanding of the significance of tests and the strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• A successful initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.
• Some experience with encouraging colleagues to adjust their work habits and managing the resulting challenges.
• An informed perspective on which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• Proven history of building solutions that are actively utilized by your team.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and a drive to advance Android UI/UX beyond mere specifications.
• A proactive approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond the initial requirements.
• Exceptional communication skills.

• Experience in building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects (bonus).
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS (bonus).
