This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch in collaboration with the design team.
• Oversee, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive development feedback.
• Assist team members by resolving technical obstacles.
• Recognize reusable solutions within the team and promote their integration.
• Manage shared components with a focus on testing, clarity, and consolidation.
• Propose enhancements to team workflows.
• Minimize the manual effort needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues at the foundational system level.
• Advance verification processes and broaden automated checks prior to QA.
• Facilitate planning sessions that concentrate on decision-making work.
• Establish suitable review levels and necessary approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering to highlight team constraints early on.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and supply nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career team members through learning-centric tasks and development opportunities.
• Involve yourself in technical interviews and a real-codebase assessment process.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or managing a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• Proven experience in implementing changes within a team that continued to be utilized post-implementation.
• Ease in prompting individuals to alter their workflows and managing any resulting friction.
• Capability to discern between changes that require extensive review and those that do not.
• A history of developing tools or features that the rest of the team utilizes.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and the capacity to elevate Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• Initiative to enhance the app and codebase beyond outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Submission of portfolio and LinkedIn links is required in the application.
• Experience with open source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is considered a plus.
