This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance the reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize reusable solutions throughout the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Enhance team processes and identify when modifications in working methods are necessary.
• Minimize manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Address recurring issues by refining the underlying systems.
• Increase automated verification and advance testing earlier in the development cycle.
• Lead planning sessions and direct the team's focus on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review requirements and clarify approval ownership.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly QA builds.
• Guide early-career engineers with substantial work and learning opportunities.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership in a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and the approach to writing them, including limitations on coverage.
• A successful initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with an honest assessment of the costs incurred to achieve it.
• Comfort with encouraging changes in others' work habits and managing the friction that may arise.
• Insight into which changes demand extensive review and which do not, backed by an understanding of the system's functionality.
• Proven history of developing solutions that were effectively utilized by the rest of the team.
• Ability to articulate how your team interacts with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and a desire to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
