This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Take ownership of significant features alongside the design team, overseeing the process from decision-making through to release.
• Oversee, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and directly investigate issues.
• Recognize and standardize reusable solutions for the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Spearhead modifications to team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by refining foundational systems.
• Advance verification processes by broadening automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review levels and sign-off criteria.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-focused tasks and development opportunities.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• A solid understanding of the significance of testing and strategies for writing effective tests, including limitations of coverage.
• An example of a contribution you made to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to implement it.
• Some comfort in encouraging changes in others' work habits and managing the subsequent friction.
• An opinion on which changes necessitate thorough reviews and which do not, supported by an understanding of the system's functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that were actually utilized by the rest of your team.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated drive to enhance the app and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Portfolio and LinkedIn profiles are requested upon application.
• Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is a plus, but not mandatory.
