This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by diagnosing and resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize effective implementations for use across the team.
• Maintain shared components to ensure they are thoroughly tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure proper releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Shift verification processes to the left and broaden automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions and direct team focus on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review requirements and take ownership of sign-offs.
• Engage in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering, articulating team constraints effectively.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Provide support to early-career engineers, offering meaningful work and learning opportunities.
• Write code, review code, and actively take ownership of features.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including experience leading a team or managing significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Awareness of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations of test coverage.
• An example of an initiative you implemented in a team that continued to be utilized after your involvement, along with a candid account of the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, justified by system functionality.
• A history of developing solutions that are genuinely utilized by your team, rather than just those that enhance personal efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your individual contributions.
• An intuitive understanding of product design, user empathy, and a passion for elevating Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• A self-motivated drive to enhance the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews plus an assessment on a real codebase.
