This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Help engineers overcome obstacles and resolve team challenges.
• Standardize solutions and oversee shared components.
• Ensure that shared code is thoroughly tested, clear, and well-organized.
• Propel improvements in team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by enhancing foundational systems.
• Broaden automated verification and shift testing to earlier stages.
• Lead planning sessions and direct team focus on decisions that require action.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Assist early-career engineers by providing suitable learning opportunities.
• Write and review code while taking a hands-on approach to feature ownership.
• Complete technical interviews and assess a real codebase during the hiring process.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, including time spent leading a team or owning a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• A solid understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including recognizing what cannot be tested.
• An example of something you implemented within a team that persisted after you moved on, including an honest account of the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfort with the challenging aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on the functionality of the system.
• A proven history of developing solutions that your team actively utilized, rather than just those that enhanced your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
• A strong sense of product design intuition, user empathy, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications provided.
• A self-motivated drive to enhance the app and codebase beyond what is specified.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
