This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take ownership of significant features from start to finish, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the decision-making and release processes.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers by identifying and resolving obstacles that hinder progress.
• Standardize successful implementations for use across the entire team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the manual effort needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Advance verification processes by increasing automation checks.
• Lead planning efforts and prioritize work that necessitates decision-making.
• Establish appropriate review levels and sign-off requirements.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful projects and learning opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leading a team or being responsible for a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other extended background tasks.
• Knowledge of the significance of testing and strategies for writing tests, including aspects that cannot be tested.
• An example of a change you introduced to a team that endured after your involvement, along with an honest account of the effort required to achieve it.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the job: encouraging colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the ensuing friction.
• An opinion on which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, justified by the system's functionality.
• A proven record of building tools and features that your team actively utilized, rather than solely those that improved your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond just your personal experience.
• An intuitive understanding of product design, user empathy, and the motivation to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-driven approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Outstanding communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
