This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for critical features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members by identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• Recognize reusable implementations and advocate for their integration across the team.
• Ensure shared code components are tested, well-documented, and consolidated.
• Drive improvements in team processes and workflows.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Advance verification processes by increasing automated checks before QA stages.
• Facilitate planning sessions and concentrate team efforts on decision-making work.
• Assess suitable review requirements and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams while communicating team constraints.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by offering them meaningful work and growth opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or responsibility for a major component while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including understanding their limitations.
• An example of a successful initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: persuading others to modify their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight on which changes warrant extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A history of constructing solutions that are actively utilized by your team, not solely those that enhance your personal efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, rather than solely your personal practices.
• Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• A proactive approach to improving the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
