This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Oversee, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for critical features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist team members by diagnosing and resolving issues to eliminate roadblocks.
• Recognize reusable solutions and standardize their implementation across the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Advance verification efforts by broadening automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions and focus team efforts on tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish suitable review levels and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering, while effectively communicating team constraints.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career team members by providing meaningful projects and learning opportunities.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, which includes leading a team or owning a major component while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations of coverage.
• An example of an initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your advocacy ceased, along with a candid account of the resources invested to achieve it.
• Comfort in requesting changes in workflows from colleagues, despite the potential for friction.
• A perspective on which modifications necessitate thorough review and which do not, grounded in the system's functionality.
• A history of creating solutions that are genuinely utilized by your team.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An intuitive understanding of product design, user empathy, and a drive to elevate Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Participation in several technical interviews along with an assessment based on a real codebase.
