This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
⢠Take ownership of significant features from conception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
⢠Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
⢠Review code submissions and offer constructive developmental feedback.
⢠Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and investigate any stalled tasks.
⢠Identify team-wide reusable solutions and streamline duplicated implementations.
⢠Ensure shared components are thoroughly tested, well-documented, and reusable.
⢠Lead necessary changes to team processes.
⢠Minimize the need for manual intervention for successful releases.
⢠Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
⢠Enhance verification processes and broaden automated checks.
⢠Conduct planning sessions focused on tasks that require decision-making.
⢠Establish suitable review levels and required approvals.
⢠Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, proactively addressing team constraints.
⢠Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
⢠Mentor early-career engineers by providing learning opportunities.
⢠A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major feature while remaining hands-on.
⢠Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
⢠Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
⢠Knowledge of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations of coverage.
⢠A successful initiative you introduced to a team that remained effective after your involvement ended, along with a candid account of the effort required to implement it.
⢠Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to adapt their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
⢠Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, justified by the system's functionality.
⢠A proven history of developing solutions that your team actively uses, rather than solely those that enhance your own efficiency.
⢠The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your individual practices.
⢠An intuitive understanding of product design, user empathy, and the motivation to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
⢠A proactive approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond what is specified.
⢠Strong communication skills.
⢠Participation in multiple technical interviews, including an assessment on an actual codebase.
