This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Take ownership of significant features from conception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members in overcoming technical obstacles.
• Recognize reusable implementations and establish them as standards for the team.
• Maintain shared code, ensuring it is well-tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Spearhead modifications to team processes.
• Minimize the manual interventions necessary for successful releases.
• Resolve recurring issues by modifying the underlying setup.
• Shift verification processes left by increasing automated checks prior to QA.
• Conduct planning sessions and direct the team's focus on unresolved tasks.
• Establish suitable review levels and sign-off criteria.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams while conveying team constraints.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds to QA.
• Assist early-career engineers with learning opportunities.
• Write code, review code, and actively take ownership of features.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major feature while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Understanding the significance of tests and how to approach writing them, including aspects that cannot be covered by tests.
• An example of a change you introduced to the team that continued to be used after your involvement ended, along with an honest assessment of the costs involved in implementing it.
• Some familiarity with encouraging people to alter their workflows and managing the resulting challenges.
• An insight into which changes require thorough review and which do not, supported by an understanding of the system's functionality.
• Proven experience in building solutions that are genuinely utilized by the rest of the team.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a motivation to advance Android UI/UX beyond the initial specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the application and codebase beyond the defined specifications.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Submission of a portfolio and LinkedIn profile link with the application.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
