This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Luxembourg.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members by resolving blockers through investigation.
• Standardize effective implementations for use across the entire team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Recognize when the team should adapt its working methods.
• Minimize manual interventions required for successful releases.
• Resolve recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Shift verification processes left and broaden automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions to focus the team's attention on decision-critical tasks.
• Define review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
• Engage in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions, conveying team constraints at an early stage.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful tasks and dedicated learning time.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major project while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in launching and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• A solid understanding of the significance of testing and approaches to writing tests, including limitations on coverage.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that became embedded after your involvement ended, along with an honest reflection on the costs associated with it.
• Comfort in addressing the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging others to alter their work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• A perspective on which changes require in-depth reviews and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of developing solutions that your team actively utilized, not just enhancements that accelerated your personal workflow.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your individual practices.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond standard specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhance the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment based on a real codebase.
