Team Lead, Android Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of major features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.

• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.

• Conduct reviews of pull requests, offering constructive and actionable feedback.

• Assist engineers in overcoming technical challenges by investigating issues.

• Establish standardized reusable solutions within the team.

• Ensure shared components are tested, clear, and consolidated.

• Lead enhancements to team processes.

• Minimize manual intervention in successful releases.

• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.

• Promote early verification through increased automated checks.

• Oversee planning and prioritize tasks that necessitate decisions.

• Define review criteria and approval checkpoints.

• Engage in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering.

• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.

• Mentor early-career engineers by assigning them meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years in software engineering, including experience leading a team or managing a significant surface while remaining hands-on.

• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.

• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.

• A solid understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be tested.

• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that continued after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.

• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging team members to change their workflows and managing the resulting friction.

• Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on the system's behavior.

• A proven history of developing tools that your team actively uses, beyond just those that increased your personal efficiency.

• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your individual contributions.

• A sense of product design, user empathy, and a desire to elevate Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.

• A proactive approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond what's specified.

• Strong communication skills.

• Successful completion of several technical interviews, along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
