This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latvia.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from conception to deployment, collaborating closely with the Design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Streamline team processes and minimize manual tasks during releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational systems.
• Broaden automated verification and prioritize testing earlier in the development cycle.
• Conduct planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and approval responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical challenges, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Actively contribute by writing and reviewing code while leading the team.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership in a team or ownership of a major feature while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations in coverage.
• Experience in implementing practices or systems that are adopted by the team.
• Comfort in requesting changes in workflows and managing any resulting friction.
• Capacity to identify which changes require extensive review and which do not.
• Proven ability to build tools or systems utilized by the rest of the team.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and a desire to enhance Android UI/UX.
• Self-motivation to improve the application and codebase beyond the specified requirements.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
• Submission of a portfolio and LinkedIn links with the application.
