This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Conduct pull request reviews and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving technical challenges.
• Recognize reusable solutions within the team and promote their implementation.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Advance verification practices by increasing automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions and direct team focus on unresolved tasks.
• Establish review requirements and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions related to Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical situations, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Offer learning opportunities to early-career engineers.
• Actively write code, review code, and take hands-on ownership of features.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of major surfaces while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations on coverage.
• An example of a practice you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve this.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in workflow and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven record of developing tools that your team actively utilizes, beyond just enhancing your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your personal practices.
• An intuition for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to elevate Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhance the application and codebase beyond what is detailed in the specifications.
